Knife type gate valves are widely used in urban water supply, sewage treatment, papermaking and other industries due to their lightweight characteristics, especially suitable for places with limited space.

In terms of applicable media, ordinary gate valves are more suitable for handling high-density, multi solid particles or corrosive media, such as high viscosity liquids, particle slurries, etc. Knife type gate valves are better at handling media with high flow rates, fast flow rates, and small amounts of suspended solids, such as low pressure and low viscosity media such as water, sewage, and pulp.

In terms of performance characteristics, ordinary gate valves are known for their excellent sealing performance and resistance to high temperature and high pressure, but they have a large volume and weight, making maintenance more complex. Knife gate valves have the advantages of full bore design, low flow resistance, strong medium passing capacity, and low maintenance costs.

When selecting, it should be based on specific working conditions: if it is necessary to handle low-pressure and high flow media containing suspended solids, it is recommended to use knife type gate valves; If the working conditions require high sealing and need to withstand high temperature and high pressure, ordinary gate valves are more suitable.
